Why electric bikes?

Here's why we decided to go electric

In the spring of 2018 we decided to trade in our regular bikes for electric bikes. We each had a hybrid Trek bike that we liked a lot, so we went to Bickel's Bicycle Shop in Burlington, IA to look at their line of Treks. Since we tow a trailer, we don't have a second vehicle we can use to scoot to the grocery store, etc, and we thought the bikes would be a good secondary transportation for us. Distance, hills, wind and heat wouldn't be as much of an issue if we have just a little bit of help to get us there or back. We're not huge trail riders, but we opted for a little bit more of a trail bike with wider tires so we can ride pretty much on any terrain.

Shout out to Bickel's - they were great! They got us outfitted with two pedal-assist electric PowerFly 5 bikes (one boy and one girl-style) with all the trimmings, including saddle bags to go get those groceries. We love them. And as an added bonus, now we use Check's bike to tow our dirty laundry water to the dump station. At about 165 pounds, we wouldn't be able to pull it with a regular bike. And, they're a ton of fun to ride!
