We are really enjoying our stays at Army Corps of Engineers parks, and this one is no exception. Sandy Creek Campground is on Steinhagen Reservoir in Texas, near Martin Dies, Jr State Park in the eastern part of the state. There are 78 sites here, but they are spread out over about three miles of roads. There really isn't a bad site in the park.

For the most part, we've found that a lot of ACE campgrounds are a bit off-the-beaten-path, and as a general rule don't have sites with septic hook-ups. Both of these things suit us just fine. In fact, we'd rather not have a septic hook-up - we think it just makes the whole park stink. We've discovered, however, that a lot of the glampier campers are only interested in full hook-ups, and they like being close to town/interstates/Cracker Barrels. Great! That leaves more room at places like this for us and other like-minded campers. 😃

Ken and Tammy
Ken and Tammy - so glad you found us online! It really was great being neighbors and maybe the next time we meet at Prairie Creek we'll have less smoke to contend with. Enjoy your travels!!
Prairie Creek
Dawn & Check - great to meet you guys & be neighbors in the middle of no where!  Too bad about the smoke in the Sawtooths. Our shared campsite on Prairie Creek was a good one, and we ended hiking up Prairie Creek to Minor Lake (with all the Creek crossings) on our last day. Beautiful!

am I done flying?
I am behind reading your log..am I?  Any way, checking the calendar regularly, I guess I forgot the log.  So here I am, June 12 2020, updating my reading and feeling silly.
Onongava caves
Today I had time on my hands (nurturing a nasty cold since one week) so I traveled through the caves.  Impressive!  Thank you Dawn
Discus
Just moved around your site a bit and after, reading about your decision to move on, I and babbo too (he is now sculpting bears in Pietrasanta), wish you the best of times traveling, resting, and free.
